“And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.” – Albus Dumbledore
I love kitchen adventures. The process of cooking – the learning, the surprises, and the arriving not quite where you expected to be.
I very rarely make quite the same thing twice – there are too many new things to try.* And the loaf which refuses to rise is more fun than the one that came out beautifully – it’s a challenge!
And so, this blog is not all about pretty photography… although I do rather like the stock photo of an ‘adventure’ that I’ve paired with this post, and let’s be honest, I will celebrate if I manage to take a decent looking photo of a macaron.
Nor is this blog about perfect recipes, although occasionally I might create something worth sharing. Instead, I plan to blog life in my kitchen, the highs as well as the ‘what happened there?’ moments.
Cooking is enjoyable precisely because it is not perfect.
That’s what this blog is all about.
* I realised after I first posted this, that the statement ‘I rarely make quite the same thing twice’ isn’t quite true! There are a few easy favourites I make over and over, and left-overs feature in my life a lot. In my mind, there are two types of days ‘cooking days’ for kitchen adventures, and ‘tired evenings’ for quick and easy cooking. Because I cook primarily for myself, those tired evenings often feature left-overs from the cooking days.
